JIŘÍ KAŇÁK
ARTIST BASED IN PRAGUE

Jiří Kaňák was born in 1999 in Prague, where he studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in the New Media 1 studio and completed an internship at the Intermedia 2 studio at the Academy of Fine Arts. In his work, he combines modern technologies, mechanical principles and spatial objects to communicate fragments of interpersonal relationships and social situations. He thus maps the genre of the "mechanical fable", balancing between cold cynicism and smiling metaphor. His artistic work is not limited to the medium of the kinetic object, but also includes video, performance, graphics and other media.

Outside of his independent work, Jiří is also an active member of the art group FFŽ, which explores the position of the primordial spectacle and the unusual through performance, happenings and video. The FFŽ group seeks to subvert conventional notions of art and open up new perspectives on everyday situations, offering viewers a glimpse into a world where the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary.

Jiří's work is characterized by an innovative approach to materials and forms, creating works that are both visually appealing and artistically stimulating. His ability to combine different disciplines and media allows him to create complex art projects that appeal to a wide range of audiences. His work reflects a deep understanding of the technological and social changes that are shaping the contemporary world.
